- ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information
- support classroom instruction and implementation of the curriculum
- collaborate with staff and teachers to prepare every student to reach his or her potential
- provide an environment in which all students will pursue excellence
curriculum & standards
Activities and lessons for K-5 students include library and computer skills, literature appreciation and the Scholastic Book Fair. Student instruction is based on the AASL School Library Standards found here. Each grade level has end of year objectives.
Book checkout
The loan period for all students is 2 weeks. Kindergarten and 1st grade students check out one book each week. 2nd-5th grades check out two books each week. Grades K-2 are expected to return their books each week when their class comes to the library. Grades 3-5 may keep their books for 2 weeks. Students may renew their books once if they need more time to finish them. There are no late charges. Students are responsible for paying for damaged books or those not returned, or lost. Failure to do so will result in the loss of checkout privileges. Please encourage your child to read each night and place their book back in their book bag.
class schedule
All classes visit the library once each week as part of their Integrated Arts rotation. The regular schedule may be changed during testing weeks. Please help your child remember his/her library day.
volunteers
Volunteers are welcome in the library. We always need help for shelving books, book repair, and book fair. You may use this form to let me know how and when you would like to help. Book fair volunteers are asked to sign up through Volunteer Spot.
donations
Donations of gently-used hardcover books are welcome. Please let me know if you would like the books that do not meet our needs returned to you.
